Criminal Charges Recommended Against PA Attorney General

Since the case was filed in Montgomery County, District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman will decide whether to press charges.

Criminal charges against Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane have been recommended by a special prosecutor and grand jury, according to reports.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that a special prosecutor and grand jury found evidence that Kane leaked secret information to a newspaper and recommended that she be criminally charged with perjury and contempt of court.

This controversy is over an article that was published by the Philadelphia Daily News in June that implied former state prosecutor Frank Fina fumbled an investigation involving a Philadelphia civil rights leader, PoliticsPA reported.

Kane  was first elected in 2012. According to the Inquirer, she denies any wrongdoing in the matter.
