Central Bucks Regional Expands K9 Unit Through Generous Donation

The Thompson Organization is underwriting the addition of a third K9 team at the Central Bucks Regional Police Department.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA —The Central Bucks Regional Police Department has added a third K9 Team to the force thanks to a generous donation from the Thompson Organization, which is underwriting the purchase of the new dog.

K9 Granite is a dual-purpose police service dog specializing in narcotics detection and patrol and protection, which includes tracking skills, building and article searches, evidence recovery and criminal apprehension.

He and his handler, Officer Kyle Maloney, are currently going through extensive training at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia. K9 Team 3 is expected to be fully deployed in the third quarter of 2025.

“We are deeply appreciative to the Thompson Organization for their continued commitment to the safety and security of the communities we serve. The addition of a third K9 team will increase the capability and coverage of our existing K9 Unit and contribute to its ongoing success,” said Chief Karl E. Knott.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department provides law enforcement coverage to Doylestown Borough, Chalfont Borough, and New Britain Borough.
