YARDLEY, PA — Doylestown’s ballet prodigy Georgia “Peach” is again making headlines, but this time it’s for her hair.

The 4-year-old sat down for her first haircut on June 5 at Salon Millan in Yardley after deciding to donate four locks of her hair to children battling pediatric cancer at St. Jude Hospital.

Her donation of four 10-inch locks is being made through the Locks of Love organization, a nonprofit that provides custom-made hair prosthetics to disadvantaged children up to the age of 21 who have suffered hair loss as a result of medical conditions, such as alopecia, burn trauma, and cancer treatment.

“She kept telling me it made her sad that the kids were losing their hair and she said to me that she wanted to help in someway,” said her mom. “So we came up with the Locks for Love as something she could do.”

When asked how it felt to make the donation, she smiled and said simply, “It feels good.”

Salon owner Melissa Millan Colon said she was happy to be able to do her part in cutting the locks and giving Georgia her first cut.

Having done numerous Locks for Love cuts in the past, she already knew how much to cut and what kind of hair the organization is looking for.

“The hair has to be dry. It has to be clean. And it has to be natural. It can’t be treated. It basically has to be virgin hair,” she said, as she smoothed Georgia's hair.

“You’re doing a very nice thing for someone,” she told Georgia.

Georgia will be showing off her summer look as she attends the School of American Ballet in New York City once a week and Princeton Ballet School in New Jersey where she has been cast as the youngest dancer in its 2024 Nutcracker performance.

The past holiday season, she made her professional dance company debut with Roxey Ballet of New Hope. She performed on stage as the youngest dancer, portraying one of the mice in The Nutcracker.
