Doylestown Home Targeted In Overnight 'Swatting' Incident, Police Confirm
Bucks County detectives and regional police are investigating the origin of the false report that led to a significant police response.
DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA —A high-priority emergency call ended up being an incident of swatting last night in Doylestown Borough, but not before prompting a significant police response to the scene.
Just after 10 p.m., the Central Bucks Regional Police Department responded to a high-priority emergency call on Clear Springs Court. Police arrived to address what was reported to be a critical incident.
Officers established a perimeter and initiated emergency protocols after arriving on the scene.

Following a tactical assessment and communication with the residents of the home, authorities determined the report was a "swatting" incident. Swatting involves making a false report to emergency services with the intention of triggering a massive, armed police response to a specific location.
"Swatting is not a prank but a serious criminal act," police said. "Such incidents endanger the community and first responders. They also divert critical resources away from legitimate emergencies."

The false report caused unnecessary trauma to innocent residents, police said.
The Central Bucks Regional Police Department, in coordination with the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, is actively investigating the origin of the call.
Similar swatting hoaxes in Bucks County have previously led to criminal charges against those found responsible.
