Doylestown to Host 'Sounds of Summer' Concert Series

This year's line-up features eight different entertainers. Fireworks will be held June 28.

Doylestown township and borough will again collaborate to present the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. The 2015 concert series has the following eight performances, according to organizers. (In the event of inclement weather, performance will be held at Lenape Middle School auditorium.)

Philly Party Band

When: June 28 at Central Park, 7:30 pm (rain date – July 19)

What: You’ll want to get out of those seats and on your feet when Philly Party Band brings their unique style of entertainment to Central Park for the Doylestown Township concert and fireworks. Experience the sounds of Standards, Motown, Rock, and Top 40, when the stage comes alive with the band’s entertainment extravaganza to the delight of an audience of all ages. You’ll sing, clap, and dance to your favorite sounds before a dazzling fireworks show to end the evening. Parking is $5 per car.

Hotsy Totsy

When: July 8 at Chapman Park, 7:00 pm

What: Hotsy Totsy combines sounds of the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s with their own originality and unique style. See the group who started as an Andrews Sisters tribute trio who went on to create their very own “Hotsy” sound and style. Hotsy Totsy will perform hits of days gone by as well as their own “reinvented” current chart toppers that sound evocative of the golden age of music.

The-Boy-Band-Project

When: July 15 at Central Park, 7:00 pm

What: Fresh from the hit Off-Broadway Show Altar Boyz, The Boy Band Project is an NYC based boy band tribute group specializing in the sounds, movement, and energy of the world’s most fascinating musical convention, the boy band. With the music of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Hanson, O-Town, One Direction, Boyz II Men, The Four Seasons, and more, these boys will make you wanna get up and dance.

Big Band from the Valley

When: July 22 at Chapman Park, 7:00 pm

What: The Big Band from the Valley originated close to fifty years ago in Rose Valley, Delaware County as a dance band. They have since developed into a finely tuned unit attracting top musicians. Rooted in the sounds of the all-time big band greats, they have combined that excitement with today’s music. The band is comprised of the full complement of three trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, piano, bass and drums.

Quakertown Band

When: July 29 at Central Park, 7:00 pm

The Quakertown Band is Bucks County’s oldest musical organization, celebrating more than 135 years of performing! They are comprised of 45 musicians of all ages, both amateur and semi-professional. Their program includes overtures, Broadway and movie show tunes, big band, swing, and Dixieland music.

Mango Men

When: August 5 at Chapman Park, 7:00 pm

Winners of Kenny Chesney’s “Next Big Star” competition in Philadelphia, The Mango Men are a local favorite! Inspired by greats such as Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet and Bruce Springsteen, they perform everything from rock, to pop, to country. They will take you from the Boardwalk to Key West all in one night!

Interactive Sing-A-Long Movie “Grease”

When: August 12 at Central Park, 8:00 pm

Get ready for a fun-filled evening as we gather under the stars for “Grease” on the big screen! Get out your poodle skirt and blue jeans and take part in an interactive sing-a-long as the movie comes to life and the “characters” get us up and dancing. See “Grease” like you never have before! Rating: PG-13. Prizes given for best dressed and dancing.
