DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Kmart in Doylestown is scheduled to close by the end of 2019, according to multiple reports.

USA Today first reported the chain would be closing nearly 100 Kmart and Sears stores by December.

The company has not yet released an official list of the locations to close, but PR Director Larry Costello confirmed to Patch that the Doylestown store is on the list.

Liquidation sales will begin in mid-September and the store will close by mid-December, Costello said.

A number of Sears and Kmart stores also have closed in recent years as the company has struggled to survive. The new closings come eight months after a last-minute reprieve saved Sears Holdings, which owns Kmart, from liquidation.
