Doylestown Program To Reveal "The Hidden Heroes Of 1776"

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Historical Society continues its commemoration of the nation's 250th birthday with a special program, "Women In The Revolution," taking place on Saturday.

The program offers a deep dive into the crucial, dangerous, and diverse roles women played during the American Revolutionary War. It will begin at 2 p.m. at the Doylestown Borough Hall, 10 Doyle Street.

The engaging afternoon will feature two distinguished speakers dedicated to preserving American heritage. Tina Nunn, Chapter Historian for the Bucks County DAR, will open
the session by discussing the origins of the Daughters of the American Revolution and their vital current initiative: cleaning the local gravestones of Revolutionary War veterans.

Her presentation will be followed by renowned historian and storyteller Meredith Barnes who will share the stories of women whose significant contributions have often been overlooked, highlighting the independence and lasting impact of female figures during the revolutionary struggle.
