Doylestown Theater Season Kicks Off Next Weekend

With the winter months dragging on, Doylestown-area residents can take shelter from the snow, and laugh and sing in theater venues across Doylestown this winter and spring.

The 2019 Doylestown theater season kicks off next weekend with the State Street Players 41st annual show, titled Misfits and Mayhem Abound, running March 8-9, 15-16 & 22-23, 2019 in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School auditorium, 225 E Ashland St, Doylestown, PA 18901.

Opening nights - like State Street Players opening weekend March 8-9 - can be especially exciting for theatergoers.

"If you haven’t attended an opening night production before, I highly encourage you to do so," writes Angelica Potter in On Stage Blog. "Things may go wrong or they may all go right, you never know, but enjoy the experience and support the people who put in so much hard work."

For each for the past 40 years, more than 100 Doylestown-area residents write, produce, and perform the State Street Players annual show, as well as build their own sets and construct the stage itself in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School auditorium.

The troupe began 41 years ago in the OLMC School cafeteria. Today, the State Street Players install a lights and sound infrastructure that rivals many full-time local community theater productions.
