Doylestown Township To Spend $3.4M On Road Repaving Projects

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Doylestown Township is going out to bid on the second phase of the township's multi-million-dollar 2023 accelerated road improvement program.

After paving 4.31 miles under the first phase of the program earlier this season at a cost of $861,062, the township plans to pave an additional 29 streets, or 12.2 miles at an estimated cost of $3.4 million for the base project and $3.9 million with the alternates.

The base bid will include Autumn Leaf Drive, Bedford Avenue, Bridle Drive, Lynbrook Lane, New Road, Paxson Road, Pebble Hill Road, Philena Avenue, Pickwick Drive, Sheridan Road, Squirrel Road, Stringer Drive, Trafalgar Road, Tremont Avenue, Wilkshire Road, Willowbrook Drive, Cottonwood Court, East Sandy Ridge Road, Saddie Drive, Sycamore Way, Sterling Crest Court, Sunset View Drive Vale View Drive, Iron Hill Road, Ash Way, Buttonwood Lane, Broad Street, Turkey Lane and Farm House Lane.

If bids come in lower than estimated, the following alternate roads are targeted for paving, including Bella Circle, Fiaba Court, Fox Hill Road, Maple Lane, Shady Grove Circle, Buttonwood Lane, Tracy Drive and Julie Lane.

The township is paying for the project through a $4 million bank-qualified loan.

"We paved 10 miles last year and we will be paving 16 miles this year so we're pushing almost 26 miles in two years," reported Director of Operations Dave Tomko. "We'd like to continue this into 2024 and bring our spending way back down," he told the supervisors in July.
