DOYLESTOWN, PA — Doylestown residents probably knew it along, but it's nice to gain some recognition locally, regionally, and yes, even nationally.

Doylestown has been named the winner of USA Today's Best Small Town Cultural Scene, as determined by readers on their 10Best site.

The Bucks County gem beat out cozy and artsy villages from across the nation, including second place's Point Pleasant, West Virginia. There were also foes closer at home to beat out, like fifth place's Media in Delaware County.

"This Pennsylvania town is home to the Doylestown Cultural District, where visitors will find both the Mercer Museum and James A. Michener Art Museum – home to a collection of Pennsylvania impressionist works – within steps of Main Street. The art deco County Theater, built in the 1930s, still screens movies."

A panel of five travel writers and experts selected a field of 20 candidates. The final 10 were determined by a popular vote.
