For the exhibit, a group of 23 blacksmiths, metalsmiths, and jewelers created a diverse range of work to be integrated into the museum.

"All the artists were chosen because I respect their work for being thoughtful and thought-provoking, as well as remarkably well crafted,” Cappy Counard, a professor of metals and jewelry at Edinboro University who curated the exhibit. "My intention was that patrons of the museum would gain a broader understanding of the diversity of the contemporary metals field while also being able to view Mercer’s collection with fresh references and impressions.”
