DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Doylestown's newest taproom and brewery is on schedule to open next spring inside the former State Store building at 19 West Court Street.

After gutting the inside of the building, work continues to transform the space into the second home of Hatboro-based Artifact Brewing Company, which will operate a taproom and a brewery at the location when it opens in 2024.

"It's moving along. It's definitely looking more like a bar inside," reports Matt Brzowski, who co-owns the brewery with Doylestown native Ryan McKinney. "We're shooting for an early spring opening. That's still our plan."

The space and the location is ideal for the taproom, said Brzowski. "You can just pop in for a drink. You can hang a little bit. And then you can go about your day doing whatever else you need to do in town."

The front two-thirds of the space will be occupied by a 1,000 square foot state-of-the-art taproom with 16 taps, a bar that extends the full length of the taproom area, high top tables and a roll-up glass front door that will let the outside in on fairer weather days.

"We're aiming to have four popular beers on tap all the time, including a Hazy IPA and a blonde ale, while supplementing the remaining taps with another eight different styles including saisons, stouts, lagers, fruited sours, and more," said Brzowski.

While the front half of the building is devoted to retail operations, the back half of the space will house Artifact's main brewing operations.

Part of the reason for opening a second location, explained Brzowski, is to increase Artifact's production capacity.

"We have an operation in Hatboro, but we're at capacity there. Now we'll have a second brewery - a larger brewery, in fact. It's about double what we have in Hatboro," said Brzowski, of the new seven-barrel system.

"We'll be brewing the more popular beers on the bigger system in Doylestown and supplying some beer to the Hatboro location as well to reinforce Hatboro's inventory," he added.

While the pub won't be serving food, they will offer higher end snacks and prepackaged items.

"We're not going to have a kitchen so we won't be competing for food," said Brzowski. "There's already a lot of food available in Doylestown and our patrons will be encouraged to bring their food to the taproom to enjoy with their drinks."

Brzowski and McKinney opened Artifact at 2 South York Road, Hatboro, in October 2019. Under their leadership and direction, they built the Hatboro taproom and brewing operation into a community gathering place and a successful operation.

"We're eager to open and be able to meet everyone in Doylestown and have everyone hang out with us," said Brzowski. "
