DUI-Suspended Driver Charged With Fleeing From Police In Warrington

Police said the driver sped away, nearly causing a collision, and struck another vehicle before fleeing from police.

WARRINGTON, PA - A man driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI charge is facing new charges after leading police on a midday chase through the township.

The incident happened on Nov. 4 when the driver sped away from an attempted traffic stop, nearly causing a collision, striking another vehicle, and driving over a curb, sidewalk, and grassy area before escaping, police said. He again fled from a second officer later that day.

A warrant was issued for the driver - Richard Charles Sturts Sr., 56, of Levittown - who was arrested on Dec. 19 in Bensalem on an unrelated matter and taken to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary arraignment was held Dec. 29 before Judge Stacey Wertman, who read the charges and set bail a $20,000, 10 percent.

He is charged with fleeing police, a third-degree felony; recklessly endangering another person and accidents involving damage, a second-degree and third-degree misdemeanor; and four summary offenses for driving while operating privilege suspended, reckless driving, and two other traffic offenses.
