Early Morning Fire Destroys Home In Plumstead Township

Firefighters from eight companies battled the fire on German Road in the township.

PLUMSTEAD, PA — A fire ripped through a home early Thursday morning in the 6000 block of German Road in Plumstead Township pretty much gutting the structure.

Firefighters from eight companies responded to the scene just after 2:15 a.m.

Within minutes of the call, the Plumsteadville fire chief and Deputy 24 confirmed a working house fire with heavy fire showing. The house was not occupied and there were no injuries reported by those on scene, fire officials said.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack using hand lines and deck water guns to knock down the blaze.

The volunteers remained on the scene until 8 a.m. initially putting out the fire and then hitting hot spots and conducting mop up operations.

Assisting Plumsteadville on the scene were Doylestown Fire Company No. 1, Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Co., Palisades Regional Fire Rescue, Dublin Volunteer Fire Company, Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Company, Midway Volunteer Fire Company, Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Co. and the Warrington Fire Co. No.1.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
