Edmund Ludwig, Doylestown Historical Society Founder, Dies At 87

The founder of the Doylestown Historical Society passed away Tuesday at the age of 87, the organization confirmed.

Judge Edmund Ludwig was a longtime Doylestown Borough resident. He became a federal judge in 1985 and founded the local historical society in 1995.

Patch profiled Ludwig in 2011, shortly after he announced he was stepping down as the organization's president. He had been the president since the inception of the Doylestown Historical Society.

A plaque on the front of organization's building at 56 S. Main Street has honored Ludwig's vision since 2011.
