Questions
1. Why are you running?
I am running to continue the work I started almost 4 years ago to continue improving the services offered to the public from the Register of Wills office as well as to continue making the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court filings easier, more efficient, and more accessible to the public while making the office more paperless. I have been able to steer the office through a pandemic, learning to adapt our procedures from in-person only to virtual and we have managed to continue those services making them accessible to the public no matter where they are, all the while continuing to offer in person, one-on-one service to those who prefer that as well. I am an attorney and an advocate. This job allows me to be an advocate for our entire Bucks County community.
2. What are your top priorities and how do you plan to administer them?
My priorities are to continue the work I’ve begun, to continue to streamline our procedures, and to make them as efficient as possible for the public by making our forms interactive online and easily accessible for the user. We continue to try to become as paperless as possible.
Local attorneys who practice in all local municipalities tell us regularly we are the most efficient, well-run office in the area. We work hard to remain that way and to provide personal, compassionate service as well.
We also began Vows and Veterans - free weddings for Veterans and first responders - every Veterans Day. It is a beautiful way to bring people into the government for a happy purpose. We provide a full wedding, meal, flowers, etc. at no cost to the taxpayer. We have also brought Wills for Heroes back to Bucks County, free wills for Veterans and first responders prepared by volunteer attorneys. Finally, we have been able to bring local banks and local attorneys together to start a dialogue to make it easier for our constituents to get services following the loss of a loved one. We are hoping to expand that dialogue to include our local state representatives to work on legislation to protect constituents trying to probate the estates of their loved ones.
3. What will you bring to the office?
I bring a legal background which includes representing clients going through difficult times. This gives me an understanding of the issues that those who appear at the counter of my office are facing. Additionally, I have a handle on the issues facing those making filings with the Orphans’ Court. My legal background is useful in my role in appointing administrators in cases that are in dispute. I have the opportunity to hold Register’s hearings for that purpose and I have the opportunity to confer with attorneys to attempt to reach resolution as well. My legal background is invaluable in handling this part of the job. I believe my experience advocating for my clients over the years is invaluable as well. I bring knowledge, compassion, and a desire to help all of the citizens of the County
