FCP Board Aids Bucks County Non-Profits Stricken by Pandemic

Foundations Community Partnership Approves $230,000 in Grant Awards Benefiting 51 Bucks Non-Profits

Non-profit organizations have been especially hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic as community need is greater than ever. In an effort to quickly respond to the crises, Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) created the COVID-19 Response Grant program to provide a source of funding to organizations serving Bucks County children, youth and families in need.

Following a $10,000 emergency donation to the Bucks County United Way in March, this week FCP’s board of directors approved $230,000 in COVID-19 response grant funding to be distributed to 51 non-profits throughout the County. The funding will help replace lost revenue for the organizations working tirelessly to serve our most vulnerable populations, including the homeless, children with special needs, individuals who need mental health or medical support, low-income families, those who are addicted or at-risk, food insecure families, and Bucks County residents in crisis.

The grants will support both the Bucks County non-profits that have remained open to provide essential services and those that were forced to close during the crisis. In addition to helping organizations provide remote services during this turbulent time, the grants will enable non-profits retain staff, avoid layoffs, and restart services upon opening.

“As the negative impact of the COVID-19 virus on our critical Bucks County non-profits became clear, the FCP Board took immediate action by authorizing a $10,000 emergency donation to the Bucks County United Way,” said Ron Bernstein, founding executive director of FCP. ”The board also voted to devote all our Spring grant resources to supporting our nonprofit partners whose operations and funding have been upended by the virus. We were also able to streamline our process and quickly get funds out the door to our dedicated non-profit partners.”

“We are thankful to FCP for stepping in to quickly offer financial support for the organizations that serve struggling families in Bucks County during this unprecedented time,” says Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia. “Many non-profits are dependent upon fundraising, much of which is on hold at this time and it’s gratifying to have a resource like FCP to help fill the void.”
