Fight At Gas Pumps, DUI Arrests: Central Bucks Regional Police Report

In other incidents, police arrest man for concealing handgun at traffic stop; cite three for disturbance at graduation ceremony.

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — The Central Bucks Regional Police Department, which serves Doylestown Borough, Chalfont Borough, and New Britain Borough, reported the following incidents and arrests during June:

June 1

  • While on foot patrol on Dommel Way, an officer observed marijuana smoke emanating from a parked vehicle on Dommel Way in Doylestown Borough. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, police found Earl Anthony Mayes, 25, of Line Lexington, to be illegally concealing a handgun tucked in his waistband. He was taken into custody and charged with possessing a firearm without a license to carry. He was arraigned, bail was set at $10,000 unsecured, and was released. Police cited a second individual, a 23-year-old woman from Corona, N.Y., with possession of a small amount of marijuana. A third occupant of the vehicle was found to have numerous outstanding arrest warrants and was turned over to the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.

  • A 21-year-old man from New Hope was cited for urinating in public on West State Street in Doylestown Borough.

June 4

  • A 68-year-old Doylestown man was cited for retail theft after concealing five bottles of beverages totaling $17.34 at the Wawa store at 425 South Main Street in Doylestown Borough.

  • A 37-year-old man from Philadelphia was cited for urinating in public at 10 North Main Street in Doylestown Borough.
  • A 46-year-old Doylestown man was arrested for simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct following a domestic incident that occurred June 5 on North Broad Street. Police said he pushed another person to the ground causing bruising to the victim’s arm and knee. He was taken into custody, arraigned, bail set at $10,000 unsecured and released.

June 8

  • A 41-year-old man from Philadelphia was cited for urinating in public at 10 North Main Street.
  • A 41-year-old man from Chalfont was cited for an ordinance violation after he was observed smoking marijuana on West State Street in Doylestown Borough.

June 9

  • A 23-year-old man from Richboro was cited for urinating in public on West State Street in Doylestown Borough.
  • A 49-year-old woman from Doylestown was cited for harassment following two incidents at 432 Maple Avenue in Doylestown Borough.

June 13

  • A 19-year-old man from Lansdale, a 19-year-old man from Quakertown, and a 17-year-old female from Furlong were cited for disorderly conduct and harassment following a physical altercation at War Memorial Field during the high school graduation ceremony.

June 14

  • A 23-year-old man from Doylestown was charged with having a counterfeit registration plate on his vehicle. Police stopped the vehicle at 625 North Main Street, Doylestown Borough, for an obscured registration plate. When police checked, the plate did not correspond to vehicle records and was vinyl wrapped.

June 17

  • A 34-year-old man from Philadelphia was arrested for drug violations after police found him dancing in the street wearing wet clothing and no shoes on Homestead Drive in Doylestown Borough. Police said he also appeared confused and was unable to answer questions. When asked for identification, police said he removed several baggies of illegal substances from his pocket. He was taken into custody and then released to Central Bucks EMS for medical assistance and transport to Doylestown Hospital.
  • A 41-year-old Doylestown man was charged with DUI following a traffic stop for erratic driving at West Butler and Oak avenues in Chalfont Borough. The driver presented with a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot glassy eyes, slurred speech and slow motor movements. After failing sobriety tests that were administered on the scene, police said he refused a legal blood draw.
  • A 19-year-old man from Norristown was charged with theft after police said he stole an Xbox Series S and fast cell phone cord in January from a dorm room at Delaware Valley University in New Britain Borough. The stolen items amounted to about $500.

June 21

  • A 49-year-old Doylestown man was cited for public drunkenness on South Main Street in Doylestown Borough. Responding to a well being check, police found the man leaning and sleeping against a wall. He presented with a flushed/red face, slurred speech and bloodshot glassy eyes.

June 22

  • A 37-year-old man from Philadelphia was charged for an open can of beer at 10 North Main Street. Officers observed the man leave an open beer can on the porch of Starbucks and walk away. Police requested that he pour out the contents and throw the can away. After being given several opportunities to comply, he refused.

June 23

  • A 22 year old man from Ambler and a 22 year old man from Horsham were cited for urinating in public on North Main Street in Doylestown Borough.
  • A 39-year-old Doylestown man was charged with assault, criminal mischief and other charges following an altercation that became physical at the gas pumps at the Wawa convenience stre. Police said the altercation began in the vehicle between the man and another driver. Police said the Doylestown man struck the victim with a glass cup several times and punched the victim with a closed fist causing injury. When police arrived, the two were outside the vehicle where the struggle ensued on the ground.

June 26

  • A 25-year-old man from Doylestown was charged with theft after stealing bread that was delivered to the outside of a business before opening at 60 West State Street.

June 27

  • A 26-year-old man from Ogensburg, New York, was cited for a small amount of marijuana on North Main Street.

June 29

  • A 26-year-old woman from New Hope was charged with DUI following a traffic stop at Hamilton and West Ashland Street for driving without lights. Police said the driver presented with glassy bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. After being unable to perform field sobriety tests, she was transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood draw.

June 30

  • A 37-year-old man from Philadelphia was charged with defiant trespass, criminal trespass and other charges at the Starbucks store at 10 North Main Street. Police said the man, who had been previously been banned from the store, was exhibiting alarming behaviors. He was taken into custody, arraigned, bail set at 10 percent of $15,000 and remanded to Bucks County Prison.
