Cold Spring Elementary Fire Under Investigation

There was a fire at Cold Spring Elementary School on Wednesday. All students were evacuated and are safe, officials said.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Authorities in Buckingham Township are investigating the cause of a fire at Cold Spring Elementary School on Wednesday. All students and faculty were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, officials said.

According to information from Central Bucks School District Superintendent John Kopicki, all students and staff were "safely and efficiently" evacuated to the nearby Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

The fire was reported in an unoccupied classroom on the second floor of the school building, according to Buckingham Township police. When firefighters arrived to the scene on Durham Road, smoke was visible and students were evacuated, police said.

"The building’s sprinkler system activated and the fire was contained to one classroom," according to police.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Buckingham Fire Marshal.

Fire Companies from Midway, New Hope, Lingohocken, Plumstead, Doylestown, Point Pleasant, and Warwick assisted at the scene.

School officials praised the students and staff for their actions and behavior during the emergency. "We are very proud of our students and staff, who followed practiced evacuation procedures perfectly, ensuring the safety of all," the district said in its communication to parents.
