Flag Raising To Open Pride Month In Doylestown Borough

This year's Pride Month kickoff will incorporate the vibrant intersectionality of Holi colors and pride as they converge in celebration.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — This year's Doylestown Pride Month celebration will kickoff on Saturday, June 1 with a flag-raising ceremony from 5 to 6 p.m. in front of the Bucks County administration building at 55 East Court Street.

All LGBTQ+ youth are invited to help raise the Pride Flag at the county flagpole. They will then walk to the Doylestown Borough Hall at 10 Doyle Street to raise a second flag.

Doylestown Borough businesses and residents are also encouraged to fly LGBTQ+ Pride flags starting on June 1.

In addition to raising the flag, the Pride Month kickoff will incorporate the vibrant intersectionality of Holi colors and pride, as they converge in a celebration of diversity, equality and love, said event organizers.

"Embracing the kaleidoscope of identities and experiences, this fusion honors the spirit of inclusion, where every hue represents a unique journey and every heart beats to the rhythm of acceptance," said organizers.

The month-long celebration continues on June 13 with a pop-up event, "The Michener Celebrates Pride," from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Michener Art Museum.

The public is invited to celebrate pride at the Michener with a fun life-drawing event. Drag performers Hannibal Lickher and Mr. Right will pose and interact with the participants. All materials are provided for the program, but participants are welcome to bring their own drawing materials and sketchbooks if desired. Adults ages 21 and up are welcome to attend these unique workshops, appropriate for beginners and experienced artists alike. Self-expression, experimentation, and fun are the focus. Other highlights include:

  • Pride Music Day 2024, organized in partnership with Picnics on Pine, takes place on Saturday, June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Doors for the show will open at 4:30 PM, picnic spots are first come first serve. Attendees must provide their own chairs and blankets for picnicking. Bring what you need to comfortably enjoy a picnic without obstructing others' views. Pride Music Day is a rain or shine event, no refunds will be given.
  • The Rainbow Room hosts Queer Youth Open Mic on June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tileworks. Celebrating Queer Youth Art & Performance, the event is free, but donations are appreciated. Bring a blanket, chairs, snacks, friends, family, love, pride and a commitment to a world that celebrates, protects and fights for LGBTQ+ youth and art. The event also features a night for the entire community. The event is canceled in case of rain.
  • The Pride Month Block Party takes place on June 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on East State Street between Pine and Main Streets in Doylestown. The event will includes non-profit organizations, businesses, live entertainment and much more.
