Flood Advisory In Place Across Philadelphia Region

Another inch of rain is expected to fall this morning and up to two more could fall by the end of the day.

A flood advisory is in place across the Philadelphia region through noon as heavy rain is expected to linger for much of Sunday. Another inch of rain is expected to fall this morning and up to two more could fall by the end of the day. As much as two inches fell overnight, the National Weather Service said.

The following counties are under flood advisory: Bucks; Chester; Delaware; Montgomery and Philadelphia. Once the flood advisory expires at noon, a flood watch will remain in effect through the day.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say doppler radar and automated rain gauges show heavy rain on the way, which will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.

Forecasters are also warning about foggy conditions. Though widespread dense fog has slowly improved this morning, visibilities are still generally between a half mile and two miles in most of the region, forecasters with the NWS said. "Visibilities may be locally reduced to a quarter mile in spots," a special weather statement said.

That combined with the heavy rain will make travel difficult. "If driving this morning, slow down and maintain extra space from vehicles in front of you," the NWS said.

The rain will move out by Monday, when party sunny skies are predicted.
