Fonthill Castle Hosting Holiday Festivities for the Family Sunday, Dec. 4

The castle is all done up for the holiday season with Henry Mercer's favorite things.

Fonthill Castle again will be dressed up for the holiday season with dazzling displays, themed trees and Victorian decorations.

During December, visitors can enjoy the daily Winter Wonderland Holiday Decoration Tours, the self-guided, Holidays Lights Meander and the evening Candlelight Holiday Tours. Fonthill will also host a free Holiday Festivities for the Family open house with the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works.

Visitors to Fonthill Park on Sunday, Dec. 4 will enjoy an afternoon of Holiday Festivities for the Family from noon to 4 p.m. Fonthill's festive decorations bring antique settings to life with ground floor tours, featuring the Conservatory, Saloon, Library and Morning Room. Visitors will also enjoy refreshments and an ornament-making craft activity. The neighboring Moravian Pottery and Tile Works will also be open for self-guided tours, hot chocolate and a visit with Santa. Both Fonthill and the Tile Works will be free and open to the public for the event.

On Saturday, Dec. 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Fonthill’s Holiday Lights Meander lets visitors wander at their own pace through the Castle’s candlelit tour route with docents on-hand to answer any visitor questions. Music and light refreshments complete the festive evening. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for youth.
To wrap up the holiday season, Fonthill’s twinkling rooms create a nostalgic atmosphere of Christmases past as they take on a special glow for the evening Candlelight Holiday Tours on Friday, December 30 from 6:30- 9 p.m. The tour features fifteen of Fonthill’s rooms adorned with lights and candles. Admission is $18 per person.

From Dec. 2 through Jan. 2, Fonthill Castle’s Winter Wonderland Holiday Decoration Tours will feature exquisitely decorated trees, Victorian decorations, Byers’ Choice figurines, poinsettias, and greens. Ten trees will be spread throughout the house reflecting individual room decor and Henry Mercer’s interests including nature (Williamsburg Fruit Tree), his dogs (Rollo the Dog Tree), Chinese tiles and more. Winter Wonderland Tours are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for youth ages 6-17.
