Free Family Rock Shows in Doylestown This October: School of Rock Mid-Season Showcase

Nine live sets from local kids and teens on Oct. 24–25 at 88 S. Main St. No tickets, no cost, all ages welcome.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Looking for something to do with the kids in Doylestown the last weekend of October? School of Rock Doylestown is hosting its free Mid-Season Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25, with nine live rock shows performed by local students. It's open to the public, it's family-friendly, and you don't need a ticket.

The showcase is the first time this season that the school's performance students take the stage. Each group has spent the fall learning a full set, and the weekend gives families a preview of what those sets will sound like by the end of the season. Shows run about an hour, so you can catch one before dinner or stay for a few.

For parents weighing after-school activities, the shows are an easy way to see the program in person. School of Rock teaches guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals through performance: students learn songs in weekly lessons, then rehearse with a band and play real shows. It's a hands-on alternative to screen time, and a lot of kids come out of it more confident than they went in. Staff will be on hand all weekend to answer questions, give tours and talk about lessons for beginners.

Saturday, Oct. 24

• 4:30 p.m. — Fleetwood Mac
• 5:30 p.m. — Beyond the Beatles
• 6:30 p.m. — Black Keys vs. White Stripes
• 7:30 p.m. — Modern Metal

Sunday, Oct. 25

• 4:30 p.m. — Songwriting
• 5:30 p.m. — Titans of Grunge
• 6:30 p.m. — 21st Century Indie
• 7:30 p.m. — Arena Rock

The Songwriting show on Sunday features original music written by the students themselves.

All performances take place at School of Rock Doylestown, 88 S. Main St., Doylestown, PA 18901, a short walk from the shops and restaurants on Main and State streets.
