Fridays are Funnier in March with the State Street Players

The State Street Players Present "Been There Done That 39 Times" for their 40th Anniversary Show

When the State Street Players opened their first show in 1979, Jimmy Carter was in the White House, YMCA was on the radio, and Mad Max was in the theaters.

40 years later, the State Street Players are celebrating their 40th Annual Assault on the Performing Arts March 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 & 24, 2018 with a look back at the prior 39 years, with the appropriate title, Been There Done That 39 Times, in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Auditorium, 225 East Ashland Street, Doylestown, PA.

Much has changed with the show since it opened in 1979. The first few years were performed in the OLMC School cafeteria, before moving to the auditorium in 1986.

Today, the State Street Players install a lights and sound infrastructure that rivals many full-time local community theater productions.

For each for the past 39 years, more than 100 Doylestown-area residents write, produce and perform the annual show, as well as build their own sets and construct the stage itself in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School auditorium.

The group will spend a total of six months in production, from initial writing in October until the March show dates.

Several members have been involved with the show for all 39 prior productions.

Long-time members credit the group's longevity to the creativity and enthusiasm of its members, who represent many careers and backgrounds.
