BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist a Buckingham Township family left homeless after fire severely damaged their Oak Lane home on January 10.

In addition, donations of gift cards and new clothing are being accepted at several locations in the Doylestown area. More details below.

"I'm humbly asking the community and friends of the family to join us in supporting them in
their time of need," writes Tara Shain on the GoFundMe page. "Luckily no one was home at the time besides their three dogs - Paisley, Finley, and Lola."

Donations pledged to the page have already topped $20,000.

Firefighters from nine companies fought the fire before bringing it under control. Damage to the building was extensive.

A bright spot to the story is that a local postal carrier saw the flames and forced his way into the home, saving the lives of the four-legged family members.

In a panic, one of the dogs ran back into the house "to search for her people" and was caught in a bedroom where she was found and rescued by firefighters.

Lola somehow survived an extended period in the smoke, was given oxygen by the volunteer firefighters and is currently at Quakertown Animal Hospital receiving care for her damaged lungs.

"The family has been left without clothing or any basic possessions," says the page. "All help will go 100 percent to Amanda and the kids (ages 10 to 20) and any veterinary medical expenses needed to aid Lola."

Donations of gift cards to purchase necessities and clothing are an immediate need. The family has been told to expect to be in a rental for at least a year (if they can find one) and all possessions will need to be replaced. Their home is a total loss.
