Goodnoe Farm Dairy Bar Opening in Doylestown

The newest location for the Newtown landmark will be on South Main Street, where Gross' Gourmet Food was located.

A Newtown landmark is expanding to Doylestown.

Goodnoe Farm Dairy Bar, which has been making ice cream locally for decades, is opening a shop in Doylestown.

The ice cream shop announced the expansion on Facebook. The newest location will be on South Main Street, where Gross’ Gourmet Food was located.

“At our new location we will have not only our delicious ice cream cups, cones, sundaes, floats and milkshakes, but we will have food too! Our menu will be limited in the beginning, consisting of burgers, fries, chicken fingers, fried foods, and our home made soup! As we get settled in, we will be adding more kitchen equipment to be able to make more of your favorites from our old restaurant,” Goodnoe Farm Dairy Bar said on Facebook.

The Newtown location opened in 1955 and was operated for 33 years by Raymond W. “Skip” Goodnoe. “Since 1918, four generations of Goodnoes have manufactured dairy products in a plant on the family farm in Newtown,” Goodnoe Farm says on its website.

The original location on Sycamore Street and Durham Road, which served food as well as ice cream, closed in 2006. In 2009, a smaller location that serves just ice cream was opened down the street in Newtown.
