The Hattery Plans Another 'Pay What You Want' Burger Fundraiser

The Hattery Stove & Still will host a Pay What You Want burger fundraiser on Wednesday, June 22 to benefit the Doylestown-based Travis Manion Foundation.

From 5 to 10 p.m. that day, guests can enjoy a surf and turf themed menu, featuring crab cakes and a tuna burger in addition the standard burger options. 

Proceeds from the event benefit the Travis Manion Foundation — a Doylestown-based charity that supports America's veterans and families of fallen heroes.

It's the third pay what you want fundraiser hosted by the restaurant, which is located inside The Doylestown Inn on West State Street.

“Travis Manion grew up in Doylestown and we’re honored to be able to help this local non-profit that does so much for veterans,” the restaurant's General Manager Alex Nelinson said. “We’re excited to add our delicious Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich to our burger lineup, so diners will have an additional delectable sandwich to choose from.”

Manion was serving his second tour in Iraq when he was killed in 2007 during a sniper attack in the Al Anbar province while drawing fire away from his wounded comrades. "His selfless actions allowed every member of his patrol to survive. For his actions, the marine officer was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor," according to the restaurant's event announcement.

Diners can choose from six different sandwiches, which are usually priced at $14. They include:

• House Blend – Black Angus Blend of Sirloin and Chuck
• Pierre – Boursin Cheese & Caramelized Onions
• Main St. – Gruyere & Bacon, topped with a Fried Egg
• Kennett Square – Mixed Mushrooms & Gorgonzola
• Tuna Burger – Grilled Rare Tuna, Truffle Honey, Asian Slaw & Sriracha Aioli
• Crab Cake – Jumbo Lump Crabmeat with Asian Slaw & Remoulade Mayo
