Hazardous Weather Outlook In PA: Strong Storms Possible Ahead Of Weekend Heat Wave

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Eastern Pennsylvania due to the possibility of strong storms ahead of a weekend heat wave.

An excessive heat watch is in place from Saturday morning through Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service said. It will also be very hot Friday, with high temperatures in the mid-90s.

Saturday will be a scorcher, with highs in the upper 90s. That heat will continue through early next week.

Ahead of the extreme heat, however, forecasters are predicting the possibility of strong thunderstorms with gusty winds Friday afternoon and evening. If that prediction holds true, the storms will most likely hit after 2 p.m.

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. West wind 6 to 11 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69. West wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 94. North wind 5 to 7 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 96. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
