Hot, Dry, Then Wet: Memorial Day Weekend Weather In PA

The unofficial beginning of summer will get off to a hot and clear start, followed by a threat of rain.

The unofficial start to summer is almost here. It's a weekend to honor our fallen soldiers and spend time with family and friends.

So with the holiday weekend off to a start in a few hours, it's safe to say the weather forecast is pretty accurate at this point. What does Mother Nature have in store for us?

The weekend looks to get off to a mainly clear — but hot — start. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms Saturday afternoon but otherwise expect highs in the upper 80s.

Then on Sunday, another slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, with a high of nearly 90. Make sure to apply your sunscreen and stay hydrated if you plan to spend time outdoors.

Memorial Day does not look as promising. There is a 60 percent chance of showers, according to the National Weather Service. It will be cooler. The threat of rain will continue into Monday evening.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Memorial Day: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 79. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
