Implicit Bias Training to Offer Interactive Learning Experience

Donna Harris, LCSW Director of Intercultural Counseling, will present “Discovering Implicit Bias” on March 9 at the BuxMont UU Fellowship in Warrington. Guided by principles of social equity, the fellowship sought to engage in contemplating implicit and explicit biases and how they may hinder embracing the value and dignity of every person.

Participants will develop a vocabulary to discuss racism, learn to identify systemic oppression, and practice Intercultural Communication Skills.

“Many of us continue to grapple with how to discuss and confront systemic inequities in our communities,” said Rob Livesay, BuxMont UU Board President. “But I think we can learn to navigate our culturally diverse world with love and an open mind.”

Ms. Harris founded Intercultural Network LLC, to address the needs of organizations in their efforts to become more diverse, equitable and inclusive. She designs and facilitates customized training for non-profits in mental health, educational and religious institutions. She serves as faculty at Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Service and Social Research, and at the Institute for Relational Psychoanalysis of Philadelphia (IRPP). Ms. Harris also serves as President for the Philadelphia Area Group Psychotherapy Society (PAGPS).
