Infant Left In Car While Mother Shopped: Warrington Police

Police responded to the store on Jan. 10 after a customer saw the unattended four-month-old infant asleep inside the car.

WARRINGTON, PA — A Telford mother is facing a child endangerment charge after leaving her four month old infant unattended inside a car in the parking lot of a store in Warrington.

Police responded to the Walmart on Jan. 10 after a customer saw the infant asleep inside the car and seated in an unauthorized restraint and positioned in the front seat facing forward.

Police latter determined that the 42-year-old mother pulled into the parking lot at 3:49 p.m. and then exited the car at 3:55.

At 4:16 p.m., police said the mother returned to her car where she was asked by the customer to wait for police. The woman, however, left the area, police said.

A warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest and on Jan. 16, she was located at a home in Warminster and was taken into custody. She was transported to police headquarters for processing.

At the time of her arrest, police discovered that she had an active warrant from Bucks County Detectives. She was arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $100,000 or 10 percent cash for each case.

The mother was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and leaving a child unattended inside a car.

As part of her bail conditions, the mother was ordered to cooperate with Bucks County Children and Youth Services and to have no contact with her four-month-old child.
