“It’s Alive!” Young Frankenstein at Town & Country Players

The Mel Brooks Musical Comedy is Running Weekends October 15th-30th

After being put on hold for a year and a half due to the Covid 19 shut down, Town & Country Players is excited to finally present the Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein. The show was originally scheduled to run in May 2020 so was fully in rehearsal when the theater had to close its doors for the entire 2020 season. Director Jessica Briggs said, “The one silver lining is that the show is now running in October, the perfect time of year for a monster musical!”

Briggs is a huge fan of Mel Brooks movies and she said Young Frankenstein has been her favorite ever since she was a little girl. She saw the original production on Broadway and is very excited to bring the show to the unique stage inside the Barn Theater. She said the cast is so funny and guarantees that the audience will not stop laughing the entire show. And that is no surprise with Kevin Palardy in the lead role of Frederic Frankenstein (it’s pronounced fronk-en-steen). Palardy showed off his comedic abilities during the 2019 season in A Christmas Story and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).

Young Frankenstein tells the story of the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein who inherits the family estate in Transylvania. The musical comedy has many big production numbers, the most famous of which is Puttin’ on the Ritz (music and lyrics by Irving Berlin).
