Italian Market Puts Out A Plea For Help In Identifying Theft Suspects

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Altomonte's Italian Market has put out a plea for help in identifying two individuals who cost their business $15,000 in a fraudulent purchase.

"We’ve spent many months working with the police and our insurance company, hoping it could be resolved privately. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, these individuals have not been identified, and our business has been left to absorb a tremendous loss," the store wrote on Facebook.

The store said two men used stolen credit cards to purchase approximately $15,000 worth of raw meat from the family business, which resulted in a chargeback to the store.

"Altomonte’s has been family-owned and operated for over 55 years. We’ve weathered economic downturns, a pandemic, and countless other challenges, but a theft like this is especially difficult because it hurts the people behind the business — our family, our employees, and everyone who works hard every day to serve this community," the store owners posted.

"We were raised to believe that honest, hard work is the only way to build something that lasts," the store owners wrote. "Our father built this business one customer at a time, and every dollar lost to theft represents countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication by our family and our team."

The store is now asking for the community's help.

"If you recognize either of these individuals or have any information that could assist the investigation, contact the local police department or send the store a private message. Even the smallest detail could make a difference," they said.

"To our loyal customers: thank you. Your support has carried our family through every challenge, and we’re grateful beyond words. We truly believe that good people far outnumber those who choose to harm," the owners wrote.

Altomonte's operates stores in Doylestown and in Warminster.
