Jerry Sandusky Gets Appeal Hearing May 20

Jerry Sandusky has been granted an appeal hearing later this month.

A Pennsylvania judge on Thursday approved the May 20 hearing for Sandusky, who will try to prove prosecutors lied, withheld evidence and leaked secret information so they could find additional victims, ESPN reports.

Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant coach, was convicted in 2012 of sexually abusing 10 boys. He served as an assistant football coach through 1999. Charges were filed against him in 2011; he was convicted and sentenced in 2012.

Sandusky has already lost direct appeals to Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior. His latest claims are being pursued under the Post-Conviction Relief Act, ESPN says.

The 72-year-old is currently serving a 30 to 60 year prison sentence.
