Bucks County Country Gentlemen Chorus is Looking for Members. No Need to Read Music. Easy Learning Materials. We Love Guests, Come See us!

When I decided 7 years ago to make my life richer, I looked at things I was missing that brought me joy. Singing in high school choir, the rock band, and a company a cappella group had ended.
I came across an ad for singing in a barbershop chorus. I'd already known that barbershop was a cappella in close harmony, and that the singing entailed 4 different parts that could be done in quartets or a larger chorus. What I didn't know was the breadth of genres nor the impact it would have on my life.
I was welcomed to a weekly Tuesday night rehearsal. There were a few dozen friendly guys having fun and working to make music together. When I heard the music, and eventually sang along with a song I knew (Breakin' Up is Hard to Do), I remembered the feeling of being part of something created by teaming up with people. It wasn't about me, it was about us. I also remembered what it was like to entertain people listening, and wanted to experience that again.

After attending 2 more rehearsals and learning a part in a barbershop "standard" song (called a polecat) I joined. My 7 seven years with the Bucks County Country Gentlemen have been a joy, with new friends and in a quartet. We sing together weekly at chorus rehearsal and periodically perform at community and private events, including churches, businesses, schools, and senior centers.
Singing in our chorus doesn't require singing solo. It's a team effort. It also doesn't require reading music, though sheet music is provided. There are learning tracks per song made specifically for each singing part. It also doesn't require a specific voice range. A male voice fits well into 1 of the 4 parts. All that's required is to enjoy singing, being able to "hold pitch" (e.g. singing Happy Birthday in tune) and a willingness to be with others "in harmony".

The Bucks County Country Gentlemen Chorus' 47th annual a cappella show is just around the corner. "Don't Touch That Dial! A Remotely Entertaining Show" is a fun-filled concert bringing the close harmony singing style of barbershop to a variety of music genres, with a little humor sprinkled in. You’ll hear our full chorus and multiple quartets.
So, what’s the story? A couple (Roz and Mo) buys a new colossal big screen TV with artificial intelligence built in (her name is…Sirexa). The TV doesn’t always understand what the couple asks (not that we’ve ever had that happen with our cell phones and “smart homes” ;-). Plus, the TV has a mind of its own. Will Roz and Mo be overjoyed…or overwhelmed?
