Juveniles Fire Gel Ball Gun Inside Warrington Theatre: Police

A manager told police that after firing the shots, the juveniles left the location in a waiting sedan.

WARRINGTON, PA — In what police believe to be a social media challenge, two juveniles walked into a township theatre Tuesday night and shot a gel ball gun while a movie was being shown.

Police were dispatched to the Regal Cinema at 104 Easton Road at 8:40 p.m. for a report of shots fired from a BB gun.

When police arrived, a manager said that after firing the shots, the juveniles left the location in a waiting sedan. It was later discovered that the gun involved was an Orbeez-type gel ball gun, which fires gel and water-filled balls, police said.

“In the last year, social media challenges have increased the popularity of these guns and the prank of shooting random people with them while another films,” said police. “Typically, these pranks take place in crowded areas.”

This was not the first incident of this type in Warrington Township, police said.

“Please speak with your children and teens about the dangers associated with this,” said police. “Many of these gel ball guns can appear realistic and can easily be mistaken for posing a real threat.“
