Landmark Buckingham Dining Spot Permanently Closed
Health department issues forced the closure of the Candlewyck less than two years after new owners took over operations.

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The landmark Candlewyck Pub and Restaurant on Durham Road has permanently closed its doors.
After 60 years of operation, the longtime Buckingham restaurant voluntarily shut down in mid-December to address a myriad of issues found during an inspection by the Bucks County Health Department.
Soon after the closure, a note appeared on the door of the Durham Road restaurant, informing the public that "The Wyck" had closed for renovations and directing them to its takeout beer shop next door.

Since then, the sign has disappeared, and there’s been no indication of any renovations at the site or any new activity on its Facebook page, which hasn’t been updated since Dec. 13, when it was advertising new chef specials.
Google listed the restaurant as “temporarily closed." And calls to the restaurant were not going through.

A few days after the Dec. 15 inspection, the owners asked the department for permission to sell take-out beer only at its Q-Wyck Stop Sandwich Shop & Beer Store next door.
The health department approved the request, but limited the sale to enclosed beverages and prepackaged non-refrigerated items.

In approving the beer sales, the health department said the "kitchen and bar must remain closed until given written approval from the department."
After operating for a few weeks, the take-out beer operation closed earlier this year. Since then, there have been no inspection updates reported by the health department.
New owners took over the operation of the Candlewyck in July 2024 and rebranded the restaurant and bar as “The Wyck.” They updated the menu and breathed fresh, new life into the longtime Buckingham dining establishment.
The new owners built a strong reputation with patrons for its contemporary American menu, featuring wings, pizza, burgers, and handhelds.
Attempts to reach the former owners were unsuccessful, but Patch has learned that the space has been leased to a new tenant, who has a new vision for the site.
