Laugh Local in March and Make Fridays Fun in Doylestown
The State Street Players open their 39th Annual Assault on the Performing Arts on Friday, March 10, 2017 for a six-night run

Another opening, another show...As they have for 38 prior years, the State Street Players is set to open their Annual Assault on the Performing Arts, and this year's country-themed 3 Gallons of Crazy in a 2 Gallon Bucket promises to keep the fun and frolicking tradition that Doylestown has come to know and love.
Friday night shows are especially great for Doylestown-area residents who don't want to travel too far after their work week. SSP audience analysis indicates more local attendees on Fridays because of the close proximity to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Auditorium (map).
Other factors contributing to the "local love" of Friday nights include ease of getting friends and neighbors at a table of 8-10, local access to great Doylestown restaurants and bistros to buy and bring in food, and the 8:00pm curtain time (with doors opening at 6:45pm for dining and conversation.)

Liz Wilson, director of the 2017 show, explained this down-home-country theme takes audience members on frolicking romp through the rich history of TV, film Broadway, and Americana.
"The audience will recognize many country songs from the past through today, plus some classic TV and movie scenes they wouldn't have expected," she said, adding that song-and-dance routines are interspersed with comedy skits, heavy on physical and satirical humor.

For each for the past 39 years, more than 100 Doylestown-area residents write, produce and perform the annual show, as well as build their own sets and construct the stage itself in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School auditorium.
