DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Village Improvement Association presented a check for $184,100 to Doylestown Health from funds raised during its hugely popular Bucks County Designer House & Gardens event held this past spring at Sycamore Lane Farm.

The VIA Maternity Center at Doylestown Hospital will be a major beneficiary with funds supporting the continued clinical and programmatic needs of the center, enhancing the patient experience, improving technology throughout the center, and aiding in the delivery of personalized care for mothers and newborns.

Specific priorities include new patient beds for labor and delivery, a state-of-the art security and alert system for the unit and new wireless fetal monitors for mothers in labor. The VIA Maternity Center brings approximately 1,300 babies into the world each year.

Additional proceeds from the Designer House will benefit several VIA committees that provide assistance and support to the Central Bucks community. These committees include the VIA Welfare Committee, Education Committee, Women's Scholarship Committee, Community Response and Recognition Committee, Veterans Committee and Home Life Committee.

Funds were also allocated for the maintenance of the James-Lorah Memorial Home, which serves as the VIA’s headquarters and hosts community events.

The Village Improvement Association founded Doylestown Hospital, which is entering its second century of providing care to the community, in 1923.

The Bucks County Designer House & Gardens is the organization's largest fundraiser. The group selects a historic property in Bucks County that is updated by professional interior decorators and landscapers and then opens it to the public for tours and other events. Planning is underway for the 49th Designer House & Gardens, which will be held in spring 2025.
