Tractor Trailer Driver Charged With 5 Counts Of DUI In Warrington
Police said the man, who appeared highly intoxicated when they found him, had the keys to a Freightliner truck in his pocket.
WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A 41-year-old man is facing five counts of driving under the influence for operating a tractor trailer in Warrington while highly intoxicated.
On Jan. 18, police arrested the Feasterville man after finding him walking through the rear parking lot at the Sparta gas station and convenience store on Easton Road. Police reported that the man appeared highly intoxicated.
Police had encountered the same man earlier that evening during an unrelated incident. At that time, he told officers he intended to take a bus into Philadelphia for the night. However, he later admitted to police he did not go to Philadelphia and instead spent time at a local night club.

Police said the man requested a translator, which officers provided, but he continued to speak with officers in English. He was offered a courtesy ride, but declined the offer.
While officers were speaking with the man, other officers found a Freightliner tractor trailer parked partially on a nearby lawn. The truck was damaged and the vehicle's engine was warm, indicating recent operation, police said.

As officers began to investigate the truck, police said the man changed his mind and agreed to accept a ride. When directly asked if he had been driving the Freightliner, he denied operating the vehicle. Surveillance footage from the area, however, showed him driving the truck prior to the arrival of police.
Aftter confronting him with the video evidence, the man was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he said he could not do because he was intoxicated, police said.
He was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness and five counts of DUI.
Police said a search revealed the keys to the Freightliner in the man's pocket. He was transported to the station for processing and subsequently taken to a local hotel.
