Man Charged With Burglary After Being Found Inside Doylestown Home

Homeowner returns from walk to find man inside his home; fire extinguisher powder all over the floor.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Massachusetts man faces burglary and trespassing charges after police said he broke into a Doylestown Borough home on Sunday.

Nicholas Tyler Shubert, 35, of Georgetown, Mass., was arrested by the Central Bucks Regional Police Department inside a home on Garden Alley after the homeowner called police to report an intruder.

The homeowner told police that when he returned home from a walk he found fire extinguisher powder all over the floor of the home. He then heard someone in the basement and found Shubert. A brief altercation occurred and police were called, police said.

When officers arrived, they found Shubert lying on the floor in the basement stairwell. He was not wearing shoes, was disoriented and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, police said. A pair of sneakers and a cell phone, belonging to Shubert, were found in the hallway of the home.

The homeowner told police that he did not know Shubert or give him permission to be in the residence.

Shubert has been charged with burglary (F1), criminal trespass (F3), criminal mischief (M2), public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before a judge who set bail at $50,000 unsecured with conditions.
