Man Has Meltsdown At Checkout, Shakes Worker: Warrington Police Report

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Police reported the following incidents and arrests on Sept. 12 and 13, including a man who had a meltdown over a missing barcode and a man busted for retail theft. Here are the details:

Man Has Meltdown Over Missing Barcode

September 13 - A 54-year-old Warrington man was issued a non-traffic citation for harassment after he had a meltdown over a missing barcode and shook a clerk at Home Depot. Police were called to the store at 7:47 p.m. for a reported assault. An employee told officers that a customer was at the self-checkout attempting to purchase a pipe fitting. When the item would not scan, he placed it into a bag. When the clerk told the customer he would need to obtain another item with a barcode, the customer became enraged and argumentative before grabbing the clerk around the upper arm and shoulder area and shaking them. A manager responded to the area and spoke with the customer, who admitted he had lost his temper and said that he knew he may be arrested.

Pocketed at Walmart, Busted at the Door

September 13 - Police responded to Walmart for the report of a retail theft. Upon arrival, officers met with Loss Prevention, who had 35-year-old Warminster man detained in the office. Loss Prevention reported that the man had selected a range finder and a watch before concealing the merchandise in his pockets. He then exited the store while failing to pay for the concealed items, totaling $114.88. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the police station, where he was processed and released.

Stolen License Plate Recovered By Police

September 12 - At 5:51 p.m., police were alerted to a vehicle traveling northbound on Easton Road near Street Road displaying a license plate that had been reported stolen. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Oxford Drive. The driver was identified as 52-year-old Winlaw Muzirwa of Philadelphia. An investigation revealed that the license plate had been reported stolen in Lansdowne. Lansdowne Police reported that the victim had previously given the vehicle to a friend to sell and was no longer in possession of the car. The victim had subsequently been receiving red-light and speeding citations associated with the vehicle. The registration was then entered into the national computer system as stolen. Muzirwa was placed under arrest and transported to the Warrington Police Department, where he was processed and released.
