Man Who Raped Two Girls In Bucks County Sentenced To Prison

DOYLESTOWN, PA — An 86-year-old man convicted of raping two girls in Dublin Borough a year ago was sentenced on Wednesday, August 16 to between 30 and 60 years in state prison.

Thomas Rosenthal, of Waltham, Mass., pleaded guilty in May to two counts each of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, and indecent exposure, and one count of harassment.

An investigation began on August 31, 2022, when the Dublin Borough Police Department received a report that Rosenthal had sexually assaulted two girls, ages 5 and 8. A detective with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.

The investigation found that the victims had been sexually assaulted by Rosenthal several times between Aug. 20 and Aug. 28, 2022, when he was visiting Bucks County from Massachusetts. The investigation also revealed that Rosenthal had threatened the victims not to tell anyone.

The victims wrote emotional impact statements that were read in court by family members prior to sentencing. The victim’s parents also spoke in court about the trauma and pain their family has endured over the past year.

After hearing the impact statements, President Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr., sentenced Rosenthal to 15 to 30 years in state prison for each victim, with the sentences running consecutively.

Rosenthal also was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, undergo sex offender treatment and have no contact with the victims.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Jovin Jose.
