Medical Marijuana Resolution To Be Considered By Borough Council

Doylestown Borough Council on Monday will vote on a resolution supporting the legalization of medical marijuana in Pennsylvania.

Doylestown Borough Manager John Davis confirmed the issue will be on Monday’s council agenda.

On Tuesday, Doylestown Borough’s Community and Governmental Affairs Committee recommended approval of the resolution. Some edits are being made ahead of Monday’s review, Davis said.

If the resolution is approved, Doylestown would be the third Bucks County municipality to urge state lawmakers to legalize marijuana for medical uses, the Intelligencer reported. Penndel and Sellersville have passed similar resolutions in support of medical marijuana, according to the Intelligencer.

In May, a medical cannabis bill, Senate Bill 3, passed the state senate.

Under the bill, Pennsylvania residents would be eligible to be treated with medical cannabis for a wide variety of illnesses, including cancer, epilepsy, seizures, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, chronic pain, diabetes, and many others.
