Warrington Township Police reported that everyone got out of the home safely and there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
"We would like to thank the neighbors who assisted us and the fire department at the scene," said police.
According to police, firefighters were delayed in their response by drivers who failed to yield to emergency vehicles responding to the scene.
"This was a working fire with heroic firefighters trying to get to the scene," said police. "Please follow the vehicle code and move over for emergency vehicles - quickly and safely."
Dana Kayris, a relative of the couple who own the home, has set up a Go Fund Me page to assist them with their short term needs.
"With minimal savings available we’re trying to help them get by with clothes, toiletries and basic living needs until they can get insurance money to rebuild their house and start over," said Kayris. "Please, anything you can contribute would be a tremendous help for this amazing elderly couple that has always given to those around them!"
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Warrington Township Fire Marshal's office.
