Midway Carnival Prizewinners Announced
The grand prize of $10,000 went to a New Britain man.

A handful of people got pretty lucky by attending Midway’s annual carnival – despite the heat wave and spate of summer storms that may have kept some carnival-goers holed up in their air-conditioned homes.
As always, raffles were held each night of the event, sponsored as a fundraiser for Midway Volunteer Fire Co. in Buckingham.
“People came out each of the nights, despite the weather, but it definitely had an effect” on turnout, said Midway president David Hathaway.

A break in the weather on the carnival’s last day, with the stickiness factor replaced by lower humidity, made temperatures feel more comfortable, bringing out “just a ton of people,” he said.
Turns out Greg German had more than the weather in his favor July 30. The New Britain man won the carnival’s $10,000 grand prize, drawn on the last night of the carnival.
