Monty Python Fest Returns to the County Theater

The special event features trivia, prizes and, of course, 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail.'

Film fans all around Doylestown will be polishing their coconuts and perfecting their silly walk for the County Theater's most popular event.

The returns to downtown Doylestown on Wednesday, July 25.

In what is quickly becoming a summertime classic, the night offers Monty Python trivia, a head-to-head matchup of silly walks, some coconuts to clop together and the main event, the screening of the 1975 cult classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

The Doylestown theater's event actually began with a similar event, "Lebowski night" at the Ambler, which started around 2007.

"We’d been showing "The Big Lebowski" at the Ambler and realized how much fun those big, signature events are," Collier said. "We really wanted to do something similar in Doylestown, and one of our staff members suggested Monty Python."

The first Python fest in 2010 was held in one of the County's two auditoriums, Collier said. It sold out immediately.

So last year, the party was expanded to include simultaneous showings of the film in both the County's two auditoriums. That means about 265 tickets were available for this year's Python Fest.

Collier said Monday that tickets are still available, but suggested that fans get them soon, as the event is expected to sell out again.

General admission tickets are $9.75 or $7.75 for theater members. A special "Night of the Round Table" ticket comes with a signature Python Fest t-shirt and a horse - a pair of coconuts to clop together during movie scenes.

Tickets are available online or at the County's box office. The event starts at 7 p.m.
