'Heartbroken' Community Plans Services For Teen Allegedly Killed By Mother In Bucks County

Sara Packer, charged in her daughter's death, previously worked as an adoption supervisor for a children's welfare agency, reports say.

A memorial service has been scheduled for a teen girl from Abington allegedly killed by her adoptive mother and mother's boyfriend in Bucks County over the summer.

Community members have launched an online fundraiser to pay for Grace Packer's services. The "Abington Loves Grace Memorial" will be held on Monday, Jan. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the New Life Church in Glenside, 467 N. Easton Road.

The circumstances surrounding the 14-year-old's death have shocked not only the quiet Montgomery County community where she attended school but also the entire region. More details about the case have emerged since authorities in Bucks County over the weekend announced Grace's mother, Sara Packer, was charged with her daughter's murder. Her mother's boyfriend, Jacob Sullivan, has also been charged in the case.

According to reports, Packer had previously worked as an adoption supervisor for a children's welfare agency in Northampton County. 6ABC reports Packer was a supervisor for the Northampton County Children, Youth and Families Division for adoptions from 2003 to 2010.

Additionally, Packer's ex-husband, David Packer, was charged in two child sex abuse cases, 6ABC reported.

Authorities allege Packer and Jacob Sullivan killed Grace by beating, raping, poisoning and ultimately strangling her in Richland Township over an 18-hour period in July.

The pair then stashed her body in cat litter before dismembering and dumping it in a remote area of north central Pennsylvania, the Bucks County District Attorney said. Her remains were found by two hunters Oct. 31 in a wooded area near a reservoir in Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County.

In addition to raising money for the memorial service, members of the community also want to honor Grace through a scholarship fund.

Money raised via GoFundMe that exceeds the amount needed for services will go to a scholarship award given in Grace's honor to a deserving student with special needs, fund organizers say. Grace was devoted to the special needs community, her friends say.

"Everyone that knew Grace says that she was a sweet and kind young woman that had a heart for those with special needs," the victim's friend Andrea Green-Adams wrote on the GoFundMe campaign website.

More than $4,400 has been raised for the online campaign since it was launched.

Additionally, a Facebook group, "In Memory of Grace Packer," has been started. "I have never been so heart broken and devastated the past few months over this situation I only hope and pray that we get justice for Grace," a supporter wrote on the page.
