DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The board of supervisors at its November meeting unanimously
approved preliminary as final plans for improvements at the Doylestown Country Club.

Plans include the construction of a close to 5,000 square foot addition to the clubhouse, renovations to the clubhouse, reconfiguration of the parking lot, improvements to stormwater management facilities and a trail easement.

“The reconfiguration will improve the functionality, efficiency, safety and internal traffic flow while adding 59 new spaces,” said Dan Lyons, who represented the club at the meeting.

“The proposed renovations will increase the building coverage by just under 5,000 square feet and will allow the club to upgrade its facilities for its members and its guests,” said Lyons.

The project required zoning relief, mostly for the reconfigured parking lot and several technical issues, which was granted in August.

In September the township’s planning commission reviewed the plans and recommended preliminary as final approval of the project.

In other business, the supervisors agreed to a request by the Village Improvement Association to bring back the Village Fair in June 2023 at Central Park.

“We think it’s a good idea. The VIA has always been a supporter of the township and our parks system. This is a good opportunity for them to reinvent their mission and expose themselves to the community,” said Supervisors’ Chairwoman Barbara Lyons.

Back in the early 1990s, Lyons said the VIA held a large fair in the township at War Memorial Field. It was their biggest fundraiser of the year.
