NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in New Britain Township will be ramping up patrols on Thanksgiving Eve, one of the biggest drinking nights of the year.

"We all know that the night before Thanksgiving has become the traditional time for people to gather with friends, co-workers and former classmates, to celebrate the holiday," said police. "Some of you will hire a ride share. Some of you will decide on a friend to be the designated driver. Some of you will call your parents or siblings. And some of you might even walk," police said. "Well done! Good choice!

"But for those of you who choose to drive while impaired, we will be looking for you."

The department will be out on patrol the night before Thanksgiving, looking for those who choose to drink and drive, which police say puts others, including passengers, motorists and pedestrians, in danger.

"We would rather see you get home safely than to stop and lock you up for DUI," police said. "We suggest that you pre-plan with your friends and family for a designated driver or chose one of the following popular ride-share companies to get you home safe -Uber or Lyft."
